The 2024 Asia-Pacific Regional Diversity & Inclusion Forum officially opened at the Kaohsiung Urban Hotel in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan!
A total of 50 participants from 15 National Scout Organizations (NSOs) across the Asia-Pacific region take part in this forum, showcasing the value of issues across different backgrounds, such as gender, race, disabilities, and age. The four-day Forum includes group discussions, success stories shared by different NSOs, and collaborative explorations of the challenges and strategies related to diversity and inclusion in scouting.
Dr. Yang, Yung-Chin, International Commissioner of the Scouts of China (Taiwan), emphasized in the opening speech that diversity and inclusion are essential to fostering a respectful and inclusive environment within the organization, where members feel valued, belonging, ownership, and have equal opportunities and resources. This enhances organizational performance and allows members to contribute effectively.
Mr. WANG, Tung-Chin, the Forum Director, noted that diversity and inclusion are significant issues today, and encourage the forum discussions and conclusions to increase the participation of more young people.
Scouts from around Asia-Pacific will discuss and share experiences about diversity and inclusion, aiming to learn from each other and make Scouting the most inspiring and inclusive movement in the world.
