The Scouts of China Appoints New Secretary General and
Deputy Secretary General

On June 27, the Scouts of China held the 2nd Board Meeting of its 28th term, during which the Board officially approved the appointment of Professor Yung-Chin Yang as Secretary General and Mr. Eric Chiu as Deputy Secretary General.
Professor Yung-Chin Yang began his Scouting journey with the Tainan First Senior High School Rover Crew and the National Cheng Kung University Rover Crew. He is currently serving with the National Taipei University of Technology Scout Group. His extensive experience includes serving as a National Board Member, International Commissioner, member of the International Relations Committee, Chairperson of the Rover and Youth Program Committee, and Chairperson of the Activities and Program Committee. He has also been a key member in organizing several National Jamborees and World Scout Jamboree contingents, bringing a wealth of knowledge and strategic perspective to the movement.
Mr. Eric Chiu began his Scouting experience with the Cub Scouts at Taipei Zhongshan Elementary School and continued through Ren-ai Junior High School, advancing through the Venture, Rover, and adult leader stages. He participated in the 1987 International Camp Staff Program, served on the international team of a National Jamboree, and was the Executive Secretary for the 28th Asia-Pacific Scout Conference. Mr. Chiu also brings professional experience as a university professor, corporate general manager, and business consultant, equipping him with practical insights into organizational leadership and administration.
Chief Commissioner Mr. Kuo-Lun Kao expressed his sincere gratitude to the newly appointed Secretary General and Deputy Secretary General for their willingness to take on these important roles. He also reported to the Board on his observations and initial plans since taking office, including the development of the Yangmingshan Scout Camp, preparation and transition of the national contingent for the 16th World Scout Moot in 2025, preparations for the 26th World Scout Jamboree in 2027, and upcoming goodwill visits to the Scout Organizations of the Philippines and Thailand in July.
The Board also tasked the new Secretary General with promptly familiarizing himself with the operations and future direction of the National Headquarters, ensuring the smooth and continuous implementation of existing initiatives. Appreciation was extended to all Board members for their valuable input and collective commitment to advancing Scouting.
