Moot Officially Kicks Off!

On July 12, the Scouts of China (Taiwan) and the World Scout Bureau jointly held the Kick-off Meeting for the 17th World Scout Moot 2029. Mr. Jacob Murray, Director of World Events, and Mr. Džanin Jamaković, Manager of World Events, travelled to Taiwan to attend the meeting in person. Secretary General Prof. Yung-Ching Yang and Deputy Secretary General Dr. Eric Chiu also participated in the discussions, which focused on several key matters:

  • 16th World Scout Moot Operational Handover
  • 16th World Scout Moot Ceremonial Handover
  • Promotion of the 17th World Scout Moot
  • Host Organization Agreement

Taiwan last hosted the World Scout Moot in 2004. After a quarter-century, this meeting marks the official starting point of the 2029 World Scout Moot journey. It symbolizes our commitment to undertaking the responsibility of hosting this global Scouting event and marks the beginning of close collaboration with the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). In 2029, we look forward to welcoming thousands of young Rover Scouts from over 100 countries to Taiwan, where they will unite to showcase the power of youth.
During their visit, Mr. Murray and Mr. Jamaković also met with the organizing team of the upcoming Asia-Pacific Youth Forum to be held in Taipei. They were impressed by the energy of Taiwan’s youth and the professionalism demonstrated in event planning. Additionally, with a guided tour led by Director Wen-Hsin Chang at the National Scout Organization’s headquarters, including the Scout Museum on the second floor, the delegation gained valuable insights into the history and development of Scouting in Taiwan.
Taiwan is ready to welcome the world with enthusiasm and professionalism—let the journey to 2029 begin!
